Cilantro: ‘stinky bug’?

No matter how many wonderful ways Latino, Indian, Asian, Italian or Caribbean cooks find to encorporate this aromatic herb and spice into their dishes, cilantro is always getting a bum wrap.
Cilantro seeds (also called coriander) have been found in 7000 year old ruins and were mentioned in the Bible! Its name comes from the Greek word koris, meaning ‘stinky bug’, no doubt a reference to the strong aroma given off by the cilantro plant leaves when they are bruised. Well no wonder people pick on cilantro! With a name like stinky bug?!?
