Paczki Day

Did you know that Fat Tuesday, or Pancake Tuesday, is also known as Paczki Day? The idea being that making these little balls of loveliness use up all the extra “sugar, lard, eggs and fruit in the house, which are forbidden during Lent.” [Wikipedia]
These mini Paczki are filled with plum and were picked up at Granowska’s in Toronto’s Roncesvalles Village. I also grabbed a couple filled with rosepetle jam.
In some places Paczki Day is actually celebrated on Fat Thursday. I say, celebrate it on Tuesday and Thursday because you can never have too many days dedicated to donuts.
