Wine Flavour Visualization

wine-taste-visualization

Recently I’ve been researching data visualization design for a project about our exposure to consumer brands and came across this website that explores the various tasting notes commonly associated with different wines and the relationships between them.

Written by Carl Tashian for a univesity class called Visualizing the Five Senses, he culled through thousands of notes in wine magazines and created this compelling visualization model showing the various flavour components and relationship between wine varieties.

Can you taste the pepper, plum and chocolate notes in Shiraz? Or the oak, cherry and earth notes in Pinot Noir. Thankfully I can and love ’em all!
