Video: Eating the PNE

For most kids with a fairly normal upbringing, fair food is comfort food. Gorging yourself on too much sugar, too much fat and too much fun was a right of passage. Sure, the elegant food snob has transcended that greasy mass of fried decadence in favour of more haughty fare such as fois gras, filet and sweetbreads, but what if we take our 2013 selves back to the 1980s? What if?
This, the 103rd year of the Pacific National Exhibition, fondly referred to by all as the PNE, saw Foodists duo Mark and Ben invited to sample the best, and wurst, fare of the Fair. The catch? We only had two hours to stuff ourselves silly before our date with the vintage 1958 wooden roller coaster.

After watching this you might be thinking, “Nice blooper reel.”. Trust us, that wasn’t the bloopers. Check them out too. Thanks to our resident Foodists videographer Nathan Garfinkel, for direction, filming and editing. And for the record, I did not puke.

I like this video. I didn’t like the feeling when I got off the roller coaster after eating so much crap. http://t.co/nn7WwiirWV

My life-long ambition will now be to find a client who will adopt that as their Reason To Believe on a brief.
