Share a disaster, win a book

This photos is courtesy of Ted Reader. He didn’t take it, I did. It’s the perfectly anal stack of burgers I formed after being inspired by my recent conversation with Ted, and following a read of his book, Napoleon’s Everyday Gourmet Burgers! The book is as stuffed with great burger tips and inspirations as you will be after eating what you make from it.

Whip up a batch of his Bone Dust seasoning, grab some beef (or chicken, or pork or…) and get grilling. Tell us a short story about a burger gone wrong and we’ll draw randomly from responses on June 15th. Winner gets a copy of Ted’s book.

Not really a disaster, but funny nonetheless:

Within a few days of moving to Vancouver, I was taken to Rodeo Burger (which is now a bank or a turnpike, or something at the corner of 152nd Street and Highway 10 in Surrey). I was told it was a must-have; among the many I’d have in Vancouver over the next 2 years living there.

Anyway, it was also when I met Mark Busse.

I love Rodeo and miss its enormous and tasty burgers profoundly (I’m sure a legion of fans share my pain). Mark got a burger and went to eat it on the picnic tables located outside. He came inside to get a packet of ketchup and a mutantly-huge crow took off with the entire burger – patty, toppings, bun and foil – everything.

I was surprised to see a bird physically hoist a huge burger like that, in its entirety. I also thought it strange how large they grew birds in BC.

Well, a little light on the feedback here for the potential to win a book that will change your life waistline. Anyway, congrats to Dave Delibato for his story. Crow burger perhaps?
