Cafe Guide Reviews

The other week I accompanied our friend Richard to two new Deman Street cafes in Vancouver he was reviewing for his site TheCafeGuide.com. This was probably the first time I’ve purposefully gone to eat somewhere with the sole intent of conducting a review. It was interesting to note how the experience changes. I am often analytical about the food and surroundings when I dine, but there’s an obvious shift in the dynamic and the meal seems like actual work. Mind you, it’s work that includes a terrific Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Two Cheeses and an all-you-can-eat chocolate fondue! I did wonder how subtle we were with the menu lingering at the table throughout our stay as we scribbled down notes, but it didn’t matter and was rather fun. Read Richard’s reviews of Capstone Tea & Fondue and Cafe Lucia here.
